Not feeling it

The overwhelming bombardment of advertising for Black Friday and Cyber Monday and Christmas shopping is mind numbing. I don’t even have regular TV Channels so I am only seeing it via my phone and computer while reading the news.

Our local community had its Santa Claus Parade yesterday, and I can’t lie, it was sad. I applaud the individuals who created a float, it takes imagination to be original and festive. Where were the scouts ? Where were the brownies ? Every store used to have a float. Is it a sign of the times that there was so little involvement in a real live event? And where were the kids?

I hesitate to criticize, I have volunteered in the past and remember the joy of being involved in something that spreads cheer -There is always hope for next year!

The simple joys

  1. I was sitting here going through emails and realized – society should move “small business Saturday” and “shop local” to the 2nd Saturday after Thanksgiving because I’m just not thinking of holiday shopping right now!
